Rabat - The city of Marrakech will be the capital of culture in the Islamic world in 2024, said, Monday, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, at the closing of the activities of the celebration of Rabat, capital of culture in the Islamic world 2022, an event organized by ISESCO for a whole year.
The city of Marrakech will host a series of events and cultural, intellectual and artistic meetings that highlight the Islamic civilization. This celebration will be an opportunity to showcase the richness of the ochre city which, thanks to its historical civilization and its intellectual influence, is characterized by a particular charm manifested in its Andalusian architecture, its mosques and its Riyads.
Listed as an intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO, Marrakech is also experiencing continuous urban development, thanks to the royal program "Marrakech City of Permanent Renewal".
Part of ISESCO's program for the capitals of culture in the Islamic world and organized under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this cultural event ended by a closing ceremony held at the Mohammed VI Theater in Rabat in the presence of Bensaid, and the director general of ISESCO, Salem Ben Mohamed El Malek as well as personalities from the world of culture representing several Arab and African countries.
